Scholarships at Husson

Every undergraduate international applicant is screened for merit based scholarships, including the Presidential Global Scholarship ranging between $1,000 - $10,000. All scholarships are renewable all undergraduate years by maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale) and positive campus citizenship.

Husson University’s College of Business offers academic certificate programs open to international students who would like to experience US university life, but are unable to commit to four years of a degree program. Certificate programs combined with the BridgePathways Academic English Program offer a high value experience for any international student.

  • A test of English proficiency (waived for students who will attend the BridgePathways Academic English Program

  • For visa approval, a declaration of finances form and bank statement indicating financial resources for the length of the program

The quiet, 208-acre campus in Bangor, Maine provides a focused learning environment for students, yet is just five minutes from charming downtown, which is in the heart of Bangor, the 3rd most populous city in Maine. Husson State takes great pride in its community and gives students every opportunity to get involved in student life.



Clubs and Organizations

Husson University boasts over 40 campus-based clubs and organizations, offering the opportunity for students to cultivate a “living learning environment” through educational, cultural, and social programs outside the classroom. Organizations include Student Environmental Group, the International Student Association, the Outdoors Club and many more groups that combine with academics to round out every student’s university experience.

Leadership Opportunities

HU gives all its students the chance to sharpen their leadership skills through groups such the Student Government, which is comprised of the Senate and Executive Board members; the Greek Governing Board, which oversees fraternities and sororities; or through positions in the residence halls, such as Resident Advisor. At Husson, the goal is for every student to reach his or her potential not only academically, but as a successful, contributing, and interdependent citizen of society.

Athletics and Intramurals

The variety of athletic and recreation activities at Husson University is a reflection of the university’s spirit. College teams include football, baseball, golf, soccer, cross-country, basketball, lacrosse and more, while intramural sports include flag football, volleyball and others. Students who prefer recreational pursuits over team sports can join group or individual activities ranging from whitewater rafting and hiking trips to aerobics and Tai Chi.

Residence Life

On-campus housing choices at Husson accommodate a variety of students. There are four residence halls, three of which are traditional shared or private dorms; the other is the new Darling Learning Center, which features suite-style living space for up to four residents per unit. All of the residence halls are located adjacent to one another and in close proximity to the main academic building. Whether you live in one of the three traditional residence halls or in the new Darling Learning Center, on campus living fosters individual development and enhances your connection to the residential community and the university. For BridgePathways students, shared living offers a great opportunity to improve their English skills!
